JEFF WALL IS MOVING TO GAGOSIAN…OR SO THE RUMOURS SAY

Rumour has it that Vancouver based, photographer Jeff Wall is leaving Marian Goodman after 25 years with her gallery.  Wall, one of today’s leading international artists, is heading over to Gagosian. Wall refers to his large scale conceptual photographs as “cinematographic” re-creations of moments he has experienced but not yet photographed.  He is known along with Cindy Sherman and Andreas Gursky as one of the pioneers of conceptual photography and as the figurehead of the Vancouver School. According to the New York Times, Gagosian director, Mark Francis, explains that Jeff Wall “would like to be seen more widely as an American artist.  I think that may be something that we can do well.”
